Hey there! I hope this email finds you well. We’ve been hard at work on All The Things! Here’s what’s new and exciting in our corner of the world:
◉ Beyond Tellerrand in Berlin is next week! With our dad in tow, Ian and I are running our design tokens workshop as well as giving a very unique talk. We’re also hosting a music jam session at the after party that anyone can join!
◉ Rebecca Garza Bortman is my latest guest on Wake Up Excited! We have a wide-ranging conversation about family, music, exuberance, the power of play, storytelling, and cultivating your creative capacity. Listen and Subscribe here!
◉ The Philippines Earthquake Relief Fund - We were able to raise $1,224.80 for the Philippine Red Cross. Unfortunately, earthquakes continue to rock the area. You can help the relief efforts here.
◉ Figma Schema features - Ian and I tuned in yesterday and welcomed hearing improvements for design systems & tokens people. 10 modes vs 4! Component slots! Extended collections (but booo only on org/enterprise)! And of course, how design systems and AI play together. One thing is becoming clear: success in the AI era requires sturdy design system foundations. That means there’s never been a better time to master design systems foundations and best practices. Which hey! That’s what our courses teach! Check ‘em out:
◉ Atomic Design Certification Course recording is underway! We’ve had a lot of forces working against us, but we’re finally recording the course! The course helps you sell design systems, adopt core concepts and best practices to create design systems that actually power real products!
◉ The Design Tokens Specification reached 1.0 status! This means people, tools, systems, and agents can now all use the same language for design tokens! Massive props to Kaelig and everyone who made this happen. Learn more about the spec.
◉ I made some art! “Follow Your Energy” is advice that I freely share, so I wanted to give it a lettering-meets-Pollock treatment.

◉ Halloween is fast approaching! My daughter is going to be the grim reaper and naturally has decorated her scythe with some disco ball flair.
It feels fitting to leave you with this question: What’s your take on Halloween? Heck yes or meh? What costume have you been most proud of? What’s your favorite Halloween candy? Any go-to rituals?

Love always,
