This is what I do.
I aim to create experiences that look and function beautifully across anything that can access the web. I am a web designer based in beautiful Pittsburgh, PA.
I write about the web, atomic design, design systems and more on my blog. I wrote a book called Atomic Design, and have contributed pieces to a number of publications, magazines and books.
I'm extremely passionate about what I do and love talking about where the Web is going. I speak about design, development and more at conferences all around the world.
I give workshops about responsive web design, atomic design, the modern Web design process, and more at companies and conferences.
I help organizations tackle the ever-shifting multi-device Web landscape, and can help with strategy, process, design, and development.
This Is Responsive
This Is Responsive is a site that collects resources, news and emerging patterns to help people create great responsive web experiences.
Co-created with Anna Debenham, Styleguides.io is a website that shares examples, tools, and resources about style guides and pattern libraries. We also co-host a podcast!
Dave Olsen and I created Pattern Lab, a tool to help people create and maintain effective interface design systems.
Death to Bullshit
Death to Bullshit is a rallying cry to rid the world of bullshit and demand experiences that respect people and their time.
WTF Mobile Web
Co-curated with Jen Simmons, WTF Mobile Web collects examples of what not to do when creating web experiences in this mobile age.
WTF QR Codes
QR codes can be hilarious. Craig Villamor and I collect the most ridiculous implementations of QR codes out in the wild.
I'm primarily a bass player, though I also enjoy playing drums, guitar and keyboards (tabletops when nothing else is available). I play and record with my wonderful wife.
Art has been a passion my whole life and I will always pursue it in some way shape or form. I enjoy painting, drawing, sculpting and designing.
